Job summary

Manpower UK is recruiting a Field Service Technician for a UK engineering business specializing in security entrances and access control. The role involves servicing, maintaining and repairing electro-mechanical equipment across customer sites in London and around the M25 corridor.

You will handle PPM visits, fault finding, and installation assistance while working independently in a field-based setting. Ongoing training and development are provided.

Qualifications

• Hands-on experience as a mobile/electro-mechanical engineer.
• Experience with electrical and mechanical systems in field settings.
• Excellent customer service and clear communication abilities.
• Ability to work independently and manage workload with minimal supervision.

Responsibilities

• Carry out planned preventative maintenance visits on customer equipment.
• Diagnose and repair electrical and mechanical faults.
• Attend customer sites for reactive service and breakdown work.
• Ensure visits meet service levels and quality standards.
• Complete service reports and documentation accurately and promptly.
• Maintain vehicle stock levels and manage spare parts efficiently.
• Coordinate with customers, suppliers, and internal technical support.
• Follow health, safety and compliance procedures.
• Ensure equipment, tools and vehicles are properly maintained.
• Support technical improvements and contribute to service excellence.
• Occasionally participate in out-of-hours, weekend and overnight travel.

About the Role

We are recruiting for a Field Service Engineer on behalf of an established UK engineering business specialising in security entrance and access control solutions.

This is an excellent opportunity for a hands-on engineer who enjoys fault finding, customer interaction and working independently in a field-based environment. The successful candidate will be responsible for servicing, maintaining and repairing a range of electro-mechanical equipment across customer sites in London and around the M25 corridor.

The role involves planned preventative maintenance, reactive breakdown support and installation assistance, ensuring customers receive a professional and efficient service at all times.

Key Responsibilities

• Carry out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) visits on customer equipment.
• Diagnose and repair electrical and mechanical faults.
• Attend customer sites to complete reactive service and breakdown work.
• Ensure all service visits are completed to a high standard and within agreed service levels.
• Complete service reports and associated documentation accurately and on time.
• Maintain company vehicle stock levels and manage spare parts effectively.
• Liaise with customers, suppliers and internal technical support teams.
• Follow all health, safety and compliance procedures.
• Ensure company equipment, tools and vehicles are maintained correctly.
• Support technical improvements and contribute to continuous service excellence.
• Participate in occasional out-of-hours, weekend and overnight travel when required.

About You

To be successful in this role, you will ideally have experience working as a:

• Mobile Engineer
• Electro-Mechanical Engineer
• Electrical Maintenance Engineer
• Access Control Engineer
• Security Systems Engineer
• Gate Automation Engineer
• Strong fault-finding and diagnostic skills.
• Electrical and/or mechanical engineering experience.
• Experience working on electro-mechanical equipment.
• Excellent customer service and communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and manage your own workload.
• Competent IT skills with experience completing digital service records.
• Strong attention to detail and problem-solving ability.
• Full UK Driving Licence.
