Job summary
Alecto Recruitment is working with an established Cornwall-based business to recruit a Plant Fitter / Field Service Engineer. The role involves maintaining and repairing construction plant machinery on-site, diagnosing faults, and carrying out safety inspections.
We’re seeking an hands-on engineer with strong mechanical and hydraulic skills, NVQ in plant maintenance preferred, own tools, and a valid UK driving licence.
Qualifications
- Hands-on experience servicing and repairing construction plant machinery.
- Strong knowledge of heavy diesel engines and hydraulic systems.
- Experience with pneumatic and electrical systems is essential.
- Fabrication and welding experience is preferred.
- Experience in safety inspections (Thorough Examinations) for excavators/telehandlers.
Responsibilities
- Carry out routine servicing and preventative maintenance on construction plant machinery.
- Diagnose mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic and electrical faults.
- Attend emergency breakdowns and complete on-site repairs.
- Work on heavy diesel engines and hydraulic systems.
- Carry out fabrication and welding repairs where needed.
- Perform safety overhauls and 12-month inspections to ensure compliance.
