Job summary

ABB is seeking a Switchgear Field Service Engineer in the United Kingdom to deliver on-site support for ABB customers, troubleshoot and optimize LV/MV switchgear, and ensure safety and reliability. You will plan field service work, document activities, and coach junior staff, while maintaining strong customer relationships and continuous improvement.

The role requires an electrical engineering background, 3+ years of field service experience, and a full UK driving license.

Qualifications

• Electrical engineering degree or equivalent.
• 3+ years of field service experience on switchgear or power distribution equipment.
• Strong knowledge of LV/MV switchgear, diagnostics, and testing tools.
• Commitment to safety and environmental procedures.

Responsibilities

• Plan and execute field service work on switchgear and related equipment, ensuring delivery in line with customer orders and expectations.
• Troubleshoot equipment and process failures, recommend corrective and preventive actions, and ensure issues are resolved on first touch.
• Collaborate with customers on-site to identify operational improvement opportunities and communicate them to the ABB account team.
• Prepare service documentation, reports, and material lists, ensuring all activities meet ABB quality and safety standards.
• Coach and guide Associate Technicians and Associate Engineers; support training for colleagues and customers when needed.
