Job summary

Staffline is seeking a Field Service Engineer (Switchgear) to join their South England team, covering London to Midlands. You will maintain LV/MV switchgear and power distribution equipment across diverse sites, delivering safe and efficient field service with detailed reporting.

The role requires a degree in Electrical Engineering (or equivalent) and at least 3 years in field service or maintenance. A UK driving licence and strong fault-finding skills are essential for this position.

Qualifications

• Degree, HNC, HND or equivalent qualification in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline.
• Minimum 3 years' experience within a Field Service, Maintenance or Service Engineering environment.
• Strong knowledge of LV and/or MV switchgear systems and power distribution equipment.
• Experience with reading and interpreting electrical drawings and technical documentation.

Responsibilities

• Carry out planned and reactive maintenance on LV and MV switchgear and associated power distribution equipment.
• Diagnose electrical and mechanical faults, identifying root causes and implementing effective solutions.
• Perform inspection, testing and repair activities to minimise customer downtime.
• Deliver field service activities safely, efficiently and in line with customer requirements and company standards.
• Produce detailed service reports, material requirements and maintenance documentation.
• Build strong relationships with customers, providing technical advice and identifying opportunities for system improvements.
• Ensure all works are completed in accordance with health, safety, quality and environmental procedures.
• Support and mentor junior engineers and technicians where required.
• Participate in commissioning, upgrades and modernisation projects when necessary.
