Job summary

Carrier Rental Systems in Inverness is seeking a skilled Service Engineer to repair and maintain diesel-powered pumps and generators at depots and on customer sites. The role emphasizes Health & Safety, regulatory compliance, and reliable uptime for client operations.

You will inspect equipment, perform overhauls, diagnose faults, and collaborate with the service team while on an on-call rota. A UK driving licence and relevant mechanical qualifications are required.

Qualifications

• Mechanical experience with plant equipment, pumps, generators and diesel engines.
• NVQ Level 3 or an M&E related apprenticeship or equivalent.
• Full UK Driving licence or equivalent.

Responsibilities

• Service, maintain, and repair pumps, generators and diesel-powered equipment in depot and field environments.
• Prepare and inspect equipment at the depot to ensure full operation before deployment.
• Carry out major overhauls and refurbishments of end-of-life equipment.
• Diagnose faults and perform repairs to minimise downtime.
• Collaborate with service team, hire controller and foreman to ensure smooth operations.
• Ensure compliance with Health & Safety regulations and company policies.
• Maintain a clean and safe working environment and ensure equipment meets safety and quality standards.
• Travel to customer sites and participate in an on-call rota (1 week in 4).
