Job summary

Carrier Rental Systems is seeking a skilled Service Engineer to repair and maintain diesel-powered pumps and generators in depot and on-site environments.

You will prioritise health and safety, ensure regulatory compliance, and minimise downtime through effective diagnostics and repairs. The role includes travel to customer sites and joining an on-call rota, supported by a friendly team.

Qualifications

• Mechanical experience with plant equipment, pumps, generators or diesel engines.
• NVQ Level 3 or equivalent qualification, or an M&E apprenticeship.
• Full UK driving licence is essential.

Responsibilities

• Service, repair and maintain pumps, generators and diesel-powered equipment in depot and field environments.
• Prepare equipment at the depot to ensure full operation before deployment.
• Carry out major overhauls and refurbishments of end-of-life equipment.
• Diagnose faults and perform repairs to minimise downtime.
• Collaborate with the service team, hire controller and foreman to ensure smooth operations.
• Ensure compliance with Health & Safety regulations and company policies.
• Maintain a clean, safe working environment and verify equipment meets safety standards.
• Travel to customer sites and participate in an on-call rota.
