Job summary

Carrier Rental Systems is seeking a skilled Service Engineer to repair and maintain diesel-powered equipment, including pumps and generators, in both depot and on-site environments in Peterborough. The role emphasizes safety compliance and reliability to minimise downtime.

You will inspect and prep equipment, perform major overhauls, and work with the service team to ensure operational readiness. A UK driving licence is required and on-call duties apply.

Qualifications

• Mechanical experience with plant equipment, pumps, generators and diesel engines is required.
• NVQ Level 3 or an M&E related apprenticeship or equivalent.
• Full UK Driving licence or equivalent required.

Responsibilities

• Service, maintain, and repair pumps, generators and diesel-powered equipment in depot and field environments.
• Prepare and inspect equipment at the depot to ensure operability before deployment.
• Carry out major overhauls and refurbishments of end-of-life equipment.
• Diagnose faults and perform repairs to minimise downtime.
• Collaborate with service team, hire controller and foreman for smooth operations.
• Ensure compliance with Health & Safety regulations and company policies.
• Maintain a clean, organised working environment and ensure equipment meets safety standards.
• Travel to customer sites and participate in an on-call rota (1 week in 4).
