Job summary

HST Hiring Group is seeking a Field Service Engineer to service, repair and calibrate customers' food testing equipment across the UK. The role involves on-site visits, installations and training where required, with a company vehicle provided.

You will diagnose faults, plan schedules with the Service Manager, and support QA, documentation and customer interactions. A relevant electronics/electro-mechanical qualification and a full UK driving licence are essential.

Qualifications

• Proven experience in a similar role.
• A relevant qualification in electronic and/or electro‑mechanical systems.
• Good working knowledge of computing and software, including programming and debugging.
• Ability to work as part of a team and to plan and work on your own initiative.
• Excellent attention to detail.
• Ability to diagnose faults and solve problems.
• Good planning skills.
• Excellent customer interaction skills.
• Ability to manage your own time and workload.
• Ability to work under pressure.
• Full UK driving licence.

Responsibilities

• Provide on-site servicing, repairs and calibration as required.
• Complete installations, commissioning and training where required.
• Ensure equipment is calibrated to traceable standards.
• Liaise with the Service Manager and Service Coordinator to prioritise and plan work schedules.
• Assist with in-house quality assurance, repairs and servicing for customer and company equipment and products.
• Assist with laboratory services, including sample testing and application development.
• Manage allocated stock of parts and consumables.
• Follow technical process procedures in line with ISO requirements and provide advice accordingly.
• Assist with technical support responses to customers.
• Ensure documentation is completed promptly and accurately.
• Adhere to all relevant customer site procedures.
• Complete customer visits in line with agreed schedules and procedures.
• Adhere to all company policies and procedures.
• Carry out any other relevant duties as required.
