Job summary

Sungrow Europe is seeking a hands-on Field Service Engineer on a 2-year temporary contract to support PV and energy storage systems across the Mid-region and Northern region of England. You will ensure safe, reliable, high-performing assets for customers with a focus on quality service delivery.

There is regular travel across Scotland and Northern England, with a remote-based setup. You will diagnose faults, perform commissioning and preventive maintenance, and collaborate with internal teams to

Qualifications

• Technical training in electrical engineering, renewable energy, power electronics, or a comparable discipline.
• Experience servicing solar PV, battery storage, electrical or industrial equipment.
• Ability to interpret electrical diagrams and diagnose faults independently.
• Based in Northern England or Scotland with willingness to travel across the northern UK.
• English at C1 level; additional languages are a plus.

Responsibilities

• Perform commissioning, preventive maintenance, troubleshooting and repair of PV inverters and ESS equipment.
• Provide on-site and remote technical support to customers and service partners across Scotland and Northern England.
• Diagnose electrical, mechanical, and software faults and implement timely solutions.
• Carry out inspections, testing, firmware updates and performance checks per standards.
• Prepare service reports and document corrective actions.
• Collaborate with internal teams to improve customer experience and equipment performance.

Your profile

To thrive in this role, your background could look like this:

• You have technical training in electrical engineering, renewable energy, power electronics, or a comparable discipline.
• You bring practical experience servicing solar PV, battery storage, electrical, or industrial equipment.
• You are confident interpreting electrical diagrams, using diagnostic tools, and resolving faults independently.
• You are based in, or able to work remotely from, Northern England or Scotland, with regular travel across the northern UK region.
• You prioritise health, safety, quality, and professional customer communication in every task.
• You communicate in English at C1 level; additional European languages are a plus.
