Job Overview
Rolls-Royce Solutions UK Ltd Marine is responsible for sales and service support of advanced propulsion and power systems across sectors such as naval, superyachts, commercial marine, and land-based systems.
The Field Service Engineer is expected to serve as an ambassador for the company, demonstrating technical expertise. Responsibilities include performing preventative and corrective maintenance, including replacements, upgrades, and additional works for all Rolls-Royce systems supplied by UK Marine. The role also involves installation, commissioning, and testing of new products.
Key Responsibilities
- Ensure compliance with all relevant health and safety legislation.
- Perform commissioning, service, and repair of IPMS/AMS, propulsion, and power systems.
- Install and commission switchboards and power management systems on vessels.
- Conduct maintenance and fault diagnosis on switchboards and power systems.
- Support on-the-job training and share knowledge with colleagues.
- Identify opportunities for continuous improvement and adhere to processes.
- Provide emergency on-call coverage as part of the service rota.
- Prepare detailed technical reports after each job.
- Identify root causes of issues and resolve problems proactively.
- Use diagnostic tools to troubleshoot faults and communicate findings effectively.
- Make technical judgments on moderate complexity issues based on experience.
- Support other service and sales activities, including client meetings.
- Manage stock of parts and equipment responsibly.
- Perform workshop duties when required.
- Understand team contributions to business objectives.
- Occasionally lead or support colleagues in the field.
- Undertake relevant technical training.

- Skilled in diagnostics using traditional and PC-based tools.
- Electrical and mechanical competencies required.
- Experience with maintenance and diagnostics of switchboards.
- Willing to travel extensively within the UK & ROI, with potential overseas deployments including Germany.
- Physically fit for demanding work.
- Disciplined, high standards, and professional.
Qualifications & Skills
- Electrical engineering or related qualifications/industry experience.
- Knowledge of health and safety standards.
- Completion of CONDO training and security clearance.
- GCSEs or equivalent in English and Maths.
- Proficiency in MS Office and report writing.
- Valid driving license and current passport.
- Fluent in English, both written and spoken.
