Job summary

Dahlia Recruitment Ltd in Reading is seeking a hands-on Field Service Engineer to install, commission, service and maintain equipment at customer sites. You will fault-find, solve technical problems and deliver excellent customer support.

The role requires reading engineering drawings and working with teams to ensure quality and safety. Ideal candidates bring experience in electrical, mechanical, automation or controls, plus a full UK driving licence.

Qualifications

• Experience in a Service Engineer, Commissioning Engineer or Field Engineer role.
• Ability to read engineering drawings and schematics.
• Excellent fault-finding and problem-solving skills.
• Full UK driving licence.

Responsibilities

• Install, commission, and hand over equipment and systems.

Reports to: Head of Service & Commissioning

We're looking for a hands-on Service Engineer to install, commission, service, and maintain our equipment at customer sites. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys fault-finding, solving technical problems, and delivering excellent customer support.

Key Responsibilities

• Install, commission, and hand over equipment and systems.
• Carry out planned maintenance and reactive service visits.
• Diagnose faults and complete repairs efficiently.
• Provide technical support to customers and end users.
• Conduct testing, calibration, and performance checks.
• Complete service and commissioning documentation.
• Ensure compliance with health and safety procedures.
• Support project delivery alongside engineering and sales teams.

What We're Looking For

Essential

• Experience in a Service Engineer, Commissioning Engineer, or Field Engineer role.
• Strong electrical, mechanical, automation, or controls background.
• Ability to read engineering drawings and schematics.
• Excellent fault-finding and problem-solving skills.
• Strong communication and customer-facing abilities.
• Full UK driving licence.

Desirable

• Experience commissioning complex or bespoke equipment.
• Knowledge of PLCs and control systems.
• Industry experience in manufacturing, energy, process, or building services.
• IPAF, ECS, CSCS, or similar certifications.
