Job summary

Dahlia Recruitment Ltd. is seeking an Instrumentation Engineer to join our Bristol-area team. The role involves installation, commissioning, and handover of equipment, plus maintenance and responsive service visits to ensure optimal operation.

You will diagnose faults, perform testing and calibration, and provide comprehensive technical support to customers. Strong reading of drawings and PLC/control systems knowledge will be beneficial, along with a valid UK driving licence.

Qualifications

• Must have electrical and/or mechanical background with exposure to automation or controls.
• Strong fault-finding and troubleshooting abilities.
• Ability to read engineering drawings and schematics.
• Excellent communication skills and customer-facing presence.

Instrumentation Engineer

Location: Bristol & Surrounding Areas
Job Type: Full-time, Permanent
Reports to: Head of Service & Commissioning

Key Responsibilities

• Install, commission, and hand over equipment and systems.
• Carry out planned maintenance and reactive service visits.
• Diagnose faults and complete repairs efficiently.
• Provide technical support to customers and end users.
• Conduct testing, calibration, and performance checks.
• Complete service and commissioning documentation.
• Ensure compliance with health and safety procedures.
• Support project delivery alongside engineering and sales teams.

What We're Looking For

Essential

• Experience in a Service Engineer, Commissioning Engineer, or Field Engineer role.
• Strong electrical, mechanical, automation, or controls background.
• Ability to read engineering drawings and schematics.
• Excellent fault-finding and problem-solving skills.
• Strong communication and customer-facing abilities.
• Full UK driving licence.

Desirable

• Experience commissioning complex or bespoke equipment.
• Knowledge of PLCs and control systems.
• Industry experience in manufacturing, energy, process, or building services.
• IPAF, ECS, CSCS, or similar certifications.
