Job summary

SER Limited is seeking a Field Service Engineer in Birmingham to service and repair a range of packaging machinery. The role involves on-site work across the UK Midlands, diagnosing electrical and mechanical faults and performing preventative maintenance in customer environments.

The ideal candidate will have strong fault-finding skills, experience with PLCs and control systems, read electrical schematics, and be comfortable working independently on customer sites with a focus on service quality

Qualifications

• Strong electrical and mechanical fault-finding skills required.
• Experience with packaging machinery, automation, food processing or similar capital equipment preferred.
• Able to read electrical schematics and technical drawings; on-site travel across UK required.

Responsibilities

• Service, repair, install and commission packaging machinery.
• Travel to customer sites across the UK Midlands region.
• Carry out electrical and mechanical fault finding and diagnostics.
• Perform planned preventative maintenance and breakdown support.
• Work with automation, controls, electrical and pneumatic systems.
• Provide technical support and guidance to customers on-site.
• Complete service reports and maintain documentation.

The Role

• Service, repair, install and commission a range of packaging machinery
• Travel to customer sites across the North UK – M62
• Carry out electrical and mechanical fault finding and diagnostics
• Perform planned preventative maintenance and breakdown support
• Work with automation, controls, electrical and pneumatic systems
• Provide technical support and guidance to customers on-site
• Complete service reports and maintain accurate documentation

Requirements

• Strong electrical and mechanical maintenance skills
• Experience within packaging machinery, automation, food processing or a similar capital equipment environment
• Confident fault finding and diagnosing technical issues
• Experience with PLCs, automation and control systems would be advantageous
• Able to read electrical schematics and technical drawings
• Proactive, professional and able to work independently on-site
