Job summary

SER Limited in Pontefract is seeking a Field Service Engineer to service and commission packaging machinery across the UK, with a focus on the Northwest. You will diagnose electrical and mechanical faults on technically advanced equipment and travel to customer sites.

This hands-on, customer-facing role offers a fully expensed company car, overtime at time and a half, Sunday double time, paid travel time, 25 days holiday plus bank holidays, life insurance, a 4% pension, and a bonus scheme up to

• Strong electrical and mechanical maintenance skills.
• Experience with packaging machinery or similar capital equipment.
• Able to read electrical schematics and technical drawings.
• Proactive, professional and able to work independently on-site.

Responsibilities

• Service, repair, install and commission packaging machinery.
• Travel to customer sites across the North UK – M62.
• Fault finding and diagnostics of electrical and mechanical systems.
• Perform planned preventive maintenance and breakdown support.
• Work with automation, controls, electrical and pneumatic systems.
• Provide on-site technical support and guidance to customers.
• Complete service reports and maintain documentation.

The Role

• Service, repair, install and commission a range of packaging machinery
• Travel to customer sites across the North UK - M62
• Carry out electrical and mechanical fault finding and diagnostics
• Perform planned preventative maintenance and breakdown support
• Work with automation, controls, electrical and pneumatic systems
• Provide technical support and guidance to customers on-site
• Complete service reports and maintain accurate documentation

Requirements

• Strong electrical and mechanical maintenance skills
• Experience within packaging machinery, automation, food processing or a similar capital equipment environment
• Confident fault finding and diagnosing technical issues
• Experience with PLCs, automation and control systems would be advantageous
• Able to read electrical schematics and technical drawings
• Proactive, professional and able to work independently on-site
• A genuine team player who values customer satisfaction
