Job summary

Thames Water, the UK’s largest water and wastewater company, is looking for a Senior Technician based in Redhill Earlswood SPS. The role is field‑based, leading routine tasks while mentoring colleagues and supporting the Performance Manager in day‑to‑day team guidance, process monitoring and maintenance to protect rivers and the local environment.

The role offers a 38‑hour week, with standby and overtime opportunities; NVQ3 in Operating Process Plant and a management qualification are preferred.

Qualifications

• NVQ 3 in Operating Process Plant or working towards it.
• Management qualification – or working towards it.
• Hands‑on operation and maintenance of the wastewater treatment process and plant.
• Proactive – take the lead on recommendations and improvements around the site.
• Respond quickly to faults, understand problems and identify solutions first time.
• Good communication and interpersonal skills to interact with the team.
• Teamwork – we are one team with common goals.
• IOSH trained or willing to complete H&S training.
• A valid UK driving licence is essential.

Responsibilities

• Provide coaching and mentoring for team members, including apprentices and new starters.
• Provide technical input to help with delivery of the production plan and promote first-time fixes.
• Support the Performance Manager with day-to-day management or coordination activities.
• Model positive safety behaviour and promote a safe site culture.
• Step up to cover activities when the Performance Manager or coordinator is unavailable.
• Participate in out-of-hours standby rota.
