Job summary

Hamilton Barnes in Middlesbrough is seeking a Radio Engineer to install, program and maintain two-way radio systems across UK sites, including wind farms, power stations and security infrastructure. This is a hands-on, field-based permanent role with occasional overnight travel.

Full training will be provided, with manufacturer-led courses and mentoring from a senior engineer on onboarding. The role offers real variety and long-term job security within a growing business.

Qualifications

• Field-based engineering or technical installation experience (Wireless, Fibre, Telecoms, RF, or Radio).
• Hands-on installation and maintenance experience (e.g., vehicle cabling, hardware mounting, field testing).
• Strong problem-solving ability and willingness to learn new communications technology.

Responsibilities

• Install, program, and maintain radio systems (training provided on specific platforms).
• Carry out vehicle-based equipment and wiring installations.
• Fault find, diagnose, and run maintenance visits at customer sites.
• Support and maintain communications infrastructure equipment.
• Work closely with customers on-site to resolve technical issues.
• Assist with system upgrades and network improvements.
