Operations and Maintenance Engineer

Slough, Buckinghamshire, United Kingdom (Remote)

We are currently recruiting for an Operations & Maintenance Engineer to work on Highways England Contracts, carrying out maintenance and commissioning activities within your designated area, including the top of M25, M4, M11 and bottom of M1, A14, M40, A1(M).

Our Operations and Maintenance field teams are critical in delivering our contracts, whether that involves maintenance, installation, cabling, or civils works. Help build and maintain the nation's critical infrastructure connected and protected 24/7.

What you’ll do:

• Attend to cable breaks and repair copper and fibre cables to keep the network operational.
• Ensure all equipment commissioning is completed to the correct standard, on time, and within budget.
• Respond to equipment issues within Transmission Buildings and Roadside Cabinets in your area, day or night.
• Undertake general maintenance and commissioning of equipment, testing all fibre and copper cables.
• Complete all required documentation promptly.

Who you are:

You will have previous experience in a similar role, preferably with fault finding and testing in fibre or copper environments.

Key Requirements:

• Experience working on motorway communications or related equipment/systems.
• Knowledge of telecommunication networks, copper jointing, fibre splicing, and testing.
• Strong health and safety awareness.
• Ability to repair fibre or copper cable breaks.
• Willingness to work overtime or on call when required.
• Full UK Driving Licence.
