Operations and Maintenance Engineer

Location: Slough, Buckinghamshire, United Kingdom (Remote)

Telent is a technology company enabling essential infrastructure such as telecommunications, roads, and emergency services. We are recruiting an Operations & Maintenance Engineer to work on Highways England Contracts, focusing on maintenance and commissioning activities in designated areas including the M25, M4, M11, M1, A14, M40, and A1(M).

If you enjoy working with a supportive team and using your initiative to solve problems in the field, this role offers a vital contribution to national infrastructure.

Responsibilities:

• Attending to cable breaks and repairs on copper and fibre cables.
• Completing equipment commissioning to standard, on time and within budget.
• Addressing equipment issues in Transmission Buildings and Roadside Cabinets, day or night.
• Performing general maintenance, commissioning, and testing of fibre and copper equipment.
• Completing all necessary documentation promptly.

Candidate Requirements:

Previous experience in a similar role, with fault finding and testing in fibre or copper environments.

Key Skills:

• Experience with motorway communications or similar systems.
• Knowledge of telecommunications networks, copper jointing, fibre splicing, and testing.
• Strong health and safety awareness.
• Ability to repair fibre or copper cable breaks.
• Willingness to work overtime or on call as required.
• Full UK Driving Licence.
