Job summary

Holcim is offering an on-site Materials Technician apprenticeship at our Carnforth site near Lancaster. You’ll start with a hands-on 20-month Level 3 programme, learning sampling, testing and reporting on sand, aggregates and bituminous products.

You’ll work with experienced technicians, gain a recognised qualification and the chance to build a long-term career in construction materials. The role runs 40 hours weekly, Mon–Fri with occasional Saturdays.

Qualifications

• A hands-on Technical Apprenticeship in Materials Laboratory.
• Learn to sample, test and report on sand, aggregates and bituminous products.
• On-site role with on-the-job training and mentorship.

Responsibilities

• You will play an important part in making sure the materials we produce meet the highest quality and safety standards.
• Learn how to work safely in a laboratory environment, follow testing procedures and understand product applications on major projects.
• Gain hands-on experience taking samples, carrying out tests and recording results using laboratory systems.
• Learn to spot and report issues, investigate early product concerns and keep equipment maintained and calibrated.
• Work with experienced technicians who will coach you as you build knowledge and support colleagues and customers.
