Job summary

abtec Managed IT is seeking an experienced 2nd line IT professional to join our Northwest team. You’ll work on client sites up to four days a week and spend time on our service desk at Pavilion West, BL5 3AJ.

The role focuses on hands-on M365/Azure, AD, and Windows Server support, with mentoring and infrastructure projects across busy sites. You'll need a drive-and-deliver mindset, a full UK driving licence, and the ability to handle tickets and on-site queries with minimal supervision.

Qualifications

• 2-3 years in a genuine 2nd line support role.
• Hands-on M365, Azure, and Active Directory experience - non-negotiable.
• MSP background OR experience as the solo or small-team IT person in a busy company.
• Comfortable in a field environment - clients asking questions on the spot, working across different sites, adapting quickly.
• Full UK driving licence - you'll be out on-site regularly.
• Windows Server, networking, and standard infrastructure experience.
• Someone who takes ownership of problems and sees them through.

Responsibilities

• 2nd line support tickets - proper ones, not a never-ending Level 1 queue
• IMACs across client sites - installs, moves, changes
• Infrastructure projects you'll actually see through from start to finish
• ITSM system management and keeping documentation sharp
• Mentoring newer team members as you grow into the role
• Six months in, you'll be handling most Level 2 tickets solo
