Job Title: Field IT Support Engineer
Location: Reading, UK
Job Type: Onsite – Dispatch Support
Company Overview:
SkySys is seeking a qualified Field IT Support Engineer to deliver on-site workplace and field services, supporting end users and data center operations. This is a critical role that represents the "face of IT," directly impacting user satisfaction and operational efficiency.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Workplace Services – Dispatch Support
- Provide on-site support for incident resolution, IMACD (Install, Move, Add, Change, Dispose) tasks, and smart hands services.
- Support remote sites and home users with next business day SLA.
- Handle hardware-related tasks including device swaps, warranty claims, and peripheral setups.
- Execute unscheduled or rescheduled IMACD requests; ensure environmental compliance for disposal.
- Support VIP events (e.g. board meetings) on request.
- Coordinate with the service desk and Wipro Lead for smooth delivery.
- Maintain accurate updates in CMDB and ITSM tools regarding ticket progress and configuration changes.
- Manage on-site spare stock levels and consumables effectively.
2. Workplace Services – Smart Hands Support
- Report on device status, perform equipment power cycles, and assist in issue diagnosis.
- Support IP phones and video conferencing setup and troubleshooting.
- Perform structured cabling and equipment patching.
- Handle removable media and assist in recovery/restoration processes.
- Receive and manage IT equipment deliveries; support root cause analysis as needed.
3. Workplace Services – On-Site Stock Management
- Receive and track incoming spare parts and peripherals with third-party vendors.
- Maintain inventory based on projected demand.
- Coordinate secure disposal of outdated assets and manage a secure storage room.
- Investigate and resolve delivery issues (e.g. rebooking missed deliveries).
Requirements:
- Proven experience in desktop/end-user support, dispatch services, and smart hands activities.
- Strong troubleshooting skills across hardware and software.
- Experience working with ITSM tools and maintaining CMDB.
- Knowledge of inventory management and logistics coordination.
- Excellent communication and coordination skills.
- Ability to work independently and prioritize tasks efficiently.
