Job summary

National Centre for Social Research (NatCen) is recruiting a Field Interviewer for Crewe on a part‑time basis. You’ll visit homes across an assigned area, guiding structured interviews on health, housing, transport and daily life. You won’t sell anything; you’ll listen and record experiences with care.

Training is provided, and you’ll travel within your area with mileage reimbursement. The role emphasises independence, reliability and strong people skills, with flexible weekday/evening/weekend

Qualifications

• People-focused communication and listening skills essential.
• Willingness to travel and work across a defined fieldwork area.
• Confidence using basic technology and devices for interviews.

Responsibilities

• Visit selected addresses within an assigned area to conduct in‑home research interviews.
• Use a NatCen device to guide structured interviews and record responses accurately.
• Deliver interviews across health, housing, transport and everyday life topics.
• Travel to interview locations; travel time is part of the role and mileage is reimbursed.
