Job summary

Atrium Associates is recruiting for a Field Engineer on behalf for a growing technology services provider. The role is based in the Greater London Region with occasional UK-wide travel, focusing on on-site IT support, installations, maintenance, and proactive recommendations to maximise client technology value.

Qualifications

• Previous experience as a Field Engineer or IT support role.
• Strong knowledge of Windows Server and Desktop environments.
• Experience with Microsoft 365, Backup/DRaaS, Entra ID and IaaS technologies.
• Good understanding of networking (TCP/IP, firewalls, routing, switching).
• UK driving licence and vehicle suitable for business use.
• Experience with Microsoft Intune and Mimecast.

Responsibilities

• Deliver on-site technical support, diagnosing and resolving hardware and software issues.
• Install, configure, maintain, and upgrade IT infrastructure (desktops, laptops, servers, network gear).
• Respond to incidents and requests per SLAs and customer expectations.
• Document work and maintain client records in the PSA system.
• Prioritise tasks and manage workload while delivering excellent customer service.
• Build strong relationships with clients and colleagues.
• Identify opportunities to improve customer systems and service delivery.
• Ensure safety, security, and operational standards are met.
• Support project delivery with Professional Services where required.
• Provide remote support through the Service Desk between visits.
• Attend urgent/priority site visits when needed.

Field Engineer

Atrium Associates is delighted to be recruiting for a Field Engineer on behalf of a growing and highly respected technology services provider.

This is an exciting opportunity for someone who enjoys working directly with clients, solving technical challenges, and delivering exceptional service. Whether you're an experienced Field Engineer or looking to take the next step in your IT support career, this role offers the chance to work with a diverse range of technologies and customer environments while developing your technical expertise.

You’ll provide on-site support across a variety of client environments, helping organisations maximise the value of their technology through installations, maintenance, troubleshooting, and proactive recommendations.

No two days are the same. Whether you’re carrying out scheduled site visits, responding to critical incidents, supporting project delivery, or assisting remotely through the Service Desk, you’ll play a key role in keeping customers connected, secure, and productive.

What You’ll Be Doing

As a Field Engineer, you will:

• Deliver on-site technical support, diagnosing and resolving hardware and software issues.
• Install, configure, maintain, and upgrade IT infrastructure, including desktops, laptops, servers, and network equipment.
• Respond to incidents and service requests in line with agreed SLAs and customer expectations.
• Accurately document all work and maintain client records within the PSA system.
• Manage your workload effectively, prioritising tasks while maintaining excellent customer service.
• Build strong, trusted relationships with clients and colleagues.
• Identify opportunities to improve customer systems, performance, and service delivery.
• Ensure all work is completed in line with security, safety, and operational standards.
• Support project delivery alongside Professional Services teams when required.
• Provide remote support through the Service Desk between client visits.
• Attend urgent and Priority 1 site visits when necessary.

What We’re Looking For

• Previous experience as a Field Engineer, Service Desk Engineer, or in a similar IT support role.
• Strong knowledge of Microsoft Windows Server and Desktop environments.
• Experience supporting Microsoft 365, Backup and DRaaS solutions, Entra ID, and Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS) technologies.
• Good understanding of networking technologies, including TCP/IP, firewalls, routing, and switching.
• Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
• A full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle insured for business use.
• Experience with Microsoft Intune and Conditional Access.
• Knowledge of Mimecast email security solutions.
