Job summary

UFORCE, a London-headquartered defence-technology company, is hiring a Forward Deployed Engineer to ensure our systems operate reliably in real-world deployed environments. You will bridge Engineering, Product, Operations, and Customer Success, owning technical execution in the field, diagnosing cross-domain issues, and translating field realities into actionable engineering work.

Regular travel and hands-on field work are expected.

Qualifications

• Systems-minded engineering judgment across software, electronics, hardware, and comms.
• Practical field troubleshooting experience in deployed or operational environments.
• Willingness to travel and work outside a narrow discipline with field readiness.
• Clear technical communication to specialists and non-specialists alike.
• Proactive, high-ownership, low-ego behavior across cross-functional teams.
• SME-level depth in at least one technical domain relevant to the role (software/embedded, electronics/comms, or hardware).
• Customer-facing technical confidence representing the team in customer or operator settings.

Responsibilities

• Own technical execution in the field — deploying, troubleshooting, and supporting systems in real-world environments outside the lab.
• Diagnose and resolve issues across domains without needing everything translated by specialists, under real-world time/resource constraints.
• Prepare for deployments and field activity — checklists, spares, tools, documentation, and readiness checks.
• Capture and translate field observations into clear engineering feedback for product teams.
• Support demonstrations, trials, and customer-facing technical activity, representing the technical team credibly.
• Build relationships across Engineering, Product, Operations, and Customer Success, helping out on practical tasks when needed.
