Job summary

National Gas Transmission PLC is seeking a Craftsperson to maintain critical gas infrastructure across the UK and Ireland. The site-based role supports maintenance, repair, inspection, and emergency response, based within a 40-mile radius of Ambergate.

You will be part of a field team delivering safe, reliable gas services, with hands-on duties and a strong emphasis on safety and teamwork.

Qualifications

Experience in operational maintenance, repair, or mechanical engineering.
Mechanical engineering background and practical problem solving.
Strong commitment to safety and high-quality work.
Full UK driving licence.
Understanding of safe working practices.
Knowledge of gas transmission or distribution networks.
Experience with pressure systems and inspection activities.

Responsibilities

Supporting specialist activities including under-pressure drilling, flow stopping, and recompression.
Delivering maintenance and repair work for safe gas networks.
Preparing and maintaining tools, materials, and equipment for field operations.
Ensuring all work is completed safely and to National Gas standards.
Recording operational information and materials accurately.
Participating in standby rota for emergency pipeline repair services.
