Job summary

National Gas Services (NGS) is seeking a Craftsperson to maintain and repair critical gas infrastructure across the UK and Ireland, delivering maintenance, inspection and emergency responses as part of a specialist field team.

Based at Ambergate with a site-based pattern and regular national travel, you will operate within defined safety standards and hold a full UK driving licence. The role provides a strong safety culture, competitive package, and opportunities to develop specialist skills.

Qualifications

• Experience in operational maintenance, repair, or mechanical engineering.
• Mechanical engineering background and practical problem-solving skills.
• Understanding of safe working practices.
• Ability to use computer systems to access and record operational information.
• Strong commitment to safety and high-quality work.
• Full UK driving licence.

Responsibilities

• Support under-pressure drilling, flow stopping, recompression, and inline inspection.
• Deliver maintenance and repair work to keep gas networks safe and efficient.
• Prepare and maintain tools, materials, and equipment for field operations.
• Ensure all work is completed safely and in line with industry standards.
• Record operational information, materials, and additional works.
• Take part in standby rota and emergency pipeline repair services.
