Job summary

National Gas, Britain's national gas network, is seeking a skilled Pipe Fitter to join the National Gas Services (NGS) fabrication team. Based near Ambergate, you will fabricate, fit, assemble, maintain and repair pipework and mechanical equipment to exact safety and quality standards, working across both workshop and site-based projects.

You will help ensure equipment is prepared correctly and safely, supporting complex tie-ins and commissioning activities while adhering to strict safety

Qualifications

• Proven pipe fitting and fabrication experience in an industrial or utilities setting.
• Ability to read engineering drawings, isometrics, and technical specifications.
• Experience with pipework fabrication using carbon steel and stainless steel.

Responsibilities

• Fabricate, fit, assemble, maintain, and repair pipework and mechanical equipment to drawings and specs.
• Prepare pipework for welding through measurement, machining, bevelling, grind and fit-up.
• Operate workshop machinery to manufacture, modify, and repair components.
• Verify materials and assemblies meet project and quality requirements.
• Support welding, testing, commissioning, and tie-in activities.
• Collaborate with Supervisors, Project Engineers, Welders, and operations teams.
• Maintain safety and workshop housekeeping standards.
