Job summary

Southern Water is seeking a Water Regulations Officer to join our Water Fittings & Regulations team. This field-based role involves inspecting customer premises, investigating water quality issues and advising on best practices to ensure compliance.

You will manage a high volume of inspections across your allocated region, using Opuz to organise workloads, record findings and plan follow-up actions. A full UK driving licence is essential for travel within Hampshire and the Isle of Wight.

Qualifications

• Essential: full, valid UK driving licence and ability to travel across Hampshire, the Isle of Wight and occasionally West Sussex.
• Clear written and verbal communication skills to explain technical or compliance matters.
• Strong organisation and time management to manage a busy field-based workload.
• Practical, investigative approach with good judgement and ownership of cases.

Responsibilities

• Plan, arrange and complete Water Fittings Regulations inspections across a wide range of customer premises.
• Inspect complete water systems and clearly explain issues or required actions to customers.
• Investigate water quality concerns and produce accurate reports and case notes.
• Manage follow-up visits and take proportionate enforcement actions to secure compliance.
• Handle technical enquiries and advise customers and colleagues on best practice.
• Manage regional workload via Opuz, including appointments and reports.
• Respond flexibly to urgent jobs and support colleagues during peak periods.
• Build effective relationships with domestic, commercial, agricultural and construction customers.
