Job summary

Motor Fuel Group seeks an ambitious Area Retail Manager to lead 16–22 company-owned, franchise-operated forecourt stations across Glasgow and Central Scotland. This hands-on role focuses on performance, customer experience and profitability across a significant multi-site operation.

You will coach Contract Managers, drive sales and manage budgets, ensuring safety, compliance and strong supplier relations while travelling across the region.

Qualifications

• Proven multi-site experience within forecourt, retail, grocery or convenience environment.
• Experience of managing contractors, franchisees or independent operators is highly desirable
• Strong commercial and financial awareness
• Excellent coaching, communication and relationship-building skills
• The ability to motivate people and drive accountability
• A proactive, self-motivated approach with excellent organisation and attention to detail
• Confidence working autonomously across a large geographical area
• A genuine appetite for improving performance and delivering results

Responsibilities

• Coach and develop Contract Managers and their teams across your region
• Drive sales, profitability and operational performance across 16–22 sites
• Own key commercial measures including fuel, shop and forecourt performance
• Ensure exceptional standards across health & safety, compliance and customer service
• Conduct regular station and fuel audits, identifying opportunities and managing risks
• Drive effective promotions, pricing, merchandising and product availability
• Build strong relationships with suppliers, contractors and external partners
• Monitor budgets, expenditure and financial performance
• Manage customer complaints and ensure effective resolution
• Oversee training, development and compliance across the estate
• Coordinate maintenance and minimise equipment downtime
• Identify and implement initiatives that improve sales, efficiency and profitability
