Job summary

National Grid Electricity Distribution is seeking an Operator - Asset Inspector based in Taunton to inspect distribution network assets up to 132kV and other statutory assets, ensuring compliance and safe operation.

The role requires mobility around Somerset, a full driving licence, and the ability to work alone. You will interrogate systems to identify inspection tasks, drive to sites, and record results on handheld devices or the corporate system. Training and safety procedures provided.

Qualifications

• GCSE English and Maths at level 1–9 or equivalent.
• Evidence of qualifications prior to appointment.
• Full driving licence required; flexible mobility within area.

Responsibilities

• Inspect National Grid Distribution assets up to 132kV and related assets.
• Use computer systems to identify inspection tasks and schedules.
• Travel to sites to undertake inspections and record results.
• Enter data on handheld devices or in the company system.
• Report any immediate risks or dangerous issues to management.
