Job summary

National Grid Electricity Distribution in Weston-super-Mare is seeking a Craft Attendant to join the Operations (South West) team. The role involves repair, replacement, construction and alteration of assets, working away from the depot in a two-person team, often in outdoor environments.

You should be mobile around the area, prepared for out-of-hours standby, and ideally hold a full driving licence. Some electrical experience is advantageous and full training will be provided.

Qualifications

• Evidence of your qualification will be required prior to appointment.
• Live within approximately 60 minutes of the depot.

Responsibilities

• Understand the task you have been instructed to undertake before starting work.
• Promote and demonstrate a culture of Health Safety & Quality at all times.
• Prepare the work site.
• Erect signs and barriers. Excavate, lay cable and backfill. Excavate pole and stay holes. Fix meter boards, meters and cut-outs.
• Provide first aid where required in accordance with training.
• Maintain tools, equipment, materials and vehicles in a safe condition.
• Assist other team members.
• Assess the potential impact of a specific work activity on customers.
• Minimise the adverse impact of own activities on customers.
• Advise customers affected of the impact of own activities.
• Resolve customer complaints, wherever possible directly.
• Assess site risks, and take action to remove or avoid those risks.
• Comply with safety instructions, use protective equipment and wear protective clothing.
• Report all accidents and incidents
