We are looking for a Female Support Worker to join a welcoming home environment, supporting a young woman living with a spinal cord injury.

Our client is active, independent and creative, with a real passion for art and mouth painting. She enjoys getting out and about, visiting craft fairs, attending local events and taking part in activities that interest her.

You'll provide personalised support with day-to-day life, while encouraging her independence and helping her continue to enjoy the things that are important to her. You'll be supporting her choices, routines and interests, rather than simply completing tasks.

She lives at home with her husband, along with two friendly dogs and a cat, so you will need to be comfortable working in a home with pets.

Location:

Bodmin

• Part Time: 24 hours / 2 shifts per week
• Full Time: 36 hours / 3 shifts per week

Shift Patterns:

• Day Shifts: 08:00-20:00
• Waking Nights: 20:00-08:00
• Bank Holidays and weekend work form part of the rota

Pay Rates:

• £15.00 per hour weekday day rate
• £16.00 per hour weekday night rate
• Double time for Bank Holidays
• £1.00 per hour less during probationary period

Role Responsibilities:

Ideal Candidate

• Previous experience in a care or support role

Preferred

• A full UK driving licence and willingness to drive the clients adapted vehicle
• Experience of complex care and/or spinal cord injuries

JOB DESCRIPTION

Job Purpose: To support your client with their day-to-day living, promoting their independence and supporting them to live a fulfilled life ensuring their safety and wellbeing at all times.

Internal and Management: This role will report to the Registered Manager

Key Duties/Responsibilities of our Support Worker:

• Provide practical support for your client and their family, such as helping with personal care, household tasks and paperwork.
• Assist and encourage your client to engage in everyday home, social, leisure and work activities, according to the individual's choice.
• Support and monitor your client's healthcare needs, including administering medication and other clinical tasks.
• Help your clients to access community facilities and be included in community groups, if they so wish.
• Understand their communication needs and adapt your own communication style accordingly.
• Keep accurate, up to date records of all the care you provide.
• Work positively with other professionals, such as doctors and therapists, to ensure consistency of support.
• Maintain confidentiality and discretion at all times.
• Participate in learning and development opportunities as required.
