Job summary

Tradewind Recruitment is seeking a Female PE Teacher to join a large secondary academy in Sheffield from November 2026. The role is full-time for half a term, with a focus on delivering engaging PE lessons and supporting student fitness and wellbeing.

The successful candidate will have QTS and experience teaching PE in a secondary school, with strong classroom management and the ability to inspire learners across KS3/KS4.

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent
  • Experience teaching PE in a secondary setting
  • Strong knowledge of KS3/KS4 PE curriculum
  • Ability to teach a range of sports confidently

Responsibilities

  • Plan and deliver high-quality PE lessons across KS3 and KS4
  • Teach a range of sports adapting lessons for different abilities
  • Create a positive, inclusive and safe learning environment
  • Motivate students to develop physical skills and healthy lifestyles
  • Assess and monitor progress, provide feedback and support
  • Maintain high behavioural standards and reinforce safeguarding policies
  • Collaborate with colleagues to maintain departmental standards
  • Support extracurricular sport and enrichment activities

Female PE Teacher - Sheffield

Start Date: November 2026 Duration: Half a term Contract: Full-time Location: Sheffield School Type: Large Secondary Academy

The Role

We are seeking an enthusiastic and committed Female PE Teacher to join a large and well-established secondary academy in Sheffield from November 2026. This is a full-time position for half a term, with the opportunity to make a positive impact within a supportive and ambitious PE department.

Key Responsibilities
  • Plan and deliver high-quality PE lessons across Key Stages 3 and 4.
  • Teach a range of sports and physical activities, adapting lessons to meet different abilities and needs.
  • Create a positive, inclusive and safe learning environment.
  • Motivate and inspire students to develop their physical skills, confidence and understanding of healthy lifestyles.
  • Assess and monitor student progress, providing appropriate feedback and support.
  • Maintain high expectations of behaviour, effort and achievement.
  • Contribute positively to the wider PE department and academy community.
  • Support extracurricular sporting activities and enrichment opportunities where required.
  • Follow academy policies relating to safeguarding, behaviour, health and safety and professional conduct.
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues to ensure consistency and high standards across the department.
Job Requirements
  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or relevant teaching qualification.
  • Experience teaching PE within a secondary school setting.
  • Strong knowledge of the Key Stage 3 and/or Key Stage 4 PE curriculum.
  • Ability to teach a range of sports and physical activities confidently.
  • Excellent classroom management and communication skills.
  • A positive, enthusiastic and professional approach.
  • Ability to build strong relationships with students and colleagues.
  • Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.
  • Availability to work full-time from November for half a term.

The successful candidate will be an energetic and dedicated PE teacher who can quickly establish positive relationships with students and become a valued member of the school community. You will have high expectations, strong classroom presence and a genuine passion for helping young people develop through sport and physical education.
