Job summary

Empowering Learning are partnering with a welcoming secondary school in Wigan to recruit a dedicated QTS PE Teacher for a full-time September start. You will deliver engaging PE lessons to KS3 and KS4, promoting physical development and confidence in a supportive department.

The role runs from September to Christmas 2026 with potential extension or permanent opportunity. DBS on Update Service preferred, right to work in the UK, and references required.

Qualifications

• Must hold Qualified Teacher Status (QTS).
• Experience delivering PE to KS3/KS4 with strong classroom management.
• Ability to plan, deliver and assess high-quality PE lessons.

PE Teacher

Location: Wigan

Start Date: September 2026

Contract: Full-Time | Monday to Friday | 8:15am - 3:00pm

Duration: September 2026 to Christmas 2026 | Potential Extension / Permanent Opportunity

Pay: £160-£225 per day (dependent on experience)

Empowering Learning are working in partnership with a welcoming secondary school in Wigan to recruit an enthusiastic and dedicated QTS PE Teacher for a full-time position starting in September.

This is an exciting opportunity to join a supportive PE department from September through to Christmas, with the possibility of an extension and the chance to become permanent for the right candidate.

The Role

You will be responsible for delivering engaging, active and inspiring PE lessons to students across Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4, creating a positive learning environment where all pupils are encouraged to develop their physical skills, confidence and knowledge.

The Successful Candidate Will Have:

• Qualified Teacher Status (QTS).
• Experience teaching PE across KS3 and KS4.
• Excellent classroom and behaviour management skills.
• A genuine passion for PE, sport and inspiring young people.
• The ability to plan, deliver and assess high-quality lessons.
• Strong communication and organisational skills.
• The ability to engage and motivate students through practical and classroom-based teaching.

Requirements

• An Enhanced DBS Certificate registered on the Update Service, or willingness to obtain one.
• Two professional references covering your recent employment.
• The right to work in the UK.

• Competitive daily pay of £160 to £225 per day, depending on experience.
