Job summary

Connex Education is seeking a PE Teacher in Sheffield for a September 2026 start. The role is full-time and long-term, focusing on Key Stages 3 and 4 with term-time only hours.

You will plan and deliver engaging PE lessons, manage behaviour, and track progress while taking responsibility for your timetable and contributing to the wider school community. DBS checks are required.

Qualifications

  • Qualified Teacher Status required.
  • Recent experience teaching PE in a UK secondary school.
  • Confident classroom and behaviour management skills.
  • Ability to plan and deliver engaging, inclusive and appropriately challenging PE lessons.
  • Current Enhanced DBS on the Update Service, or willingness to obtain one.
  • Right to work in the UK and satisfy safer recruitment checks.

Responsibilities

  • Teach high-quality PE across Key Stages 3 and 4.
  • Plan, prepare and assess lessons in line with curriculum expectations.
  • Create an inclusive classroom and sporting environment to motivate participation.
  • Track student progress and support individuals to reach potential.

  • Contribute positively to the wider school community.

Location: Sheffield | Pay: £844 – £1162 per week | Contract: Full-time, long-term, term time only

Connex Education is working with a range of mainstream secondary schools across Sheffield to appoint enthusiastic PE Teachers for September 2026. This full-time, long-term role offers the chance to become an established part of a school community, take ownership of your timetable and support students to develop confidence, resilience and a positive approach to health and fitness.

About the Role / Setting

As a PE Teacher, you will deliver purposeful and engaging Physical Education lessons across Key Stages 3 and 4. Connex Education partners with secondary schools across Sheffield that are focused on positive outcomes, supportive learning environments and strong relationships between staff and students. The schools are looking for dependable, adaptable teachers who can contribute confidently to both the department and the wider school community.

  • Confident classroom and behaviour management skills.
  • Ability to plan and deliver engaging, inclusive and appropriately challenging lessons.
  • A current Enhanced DBS on the Update Service, or willingness to obtain one.
  • Right to work in the UK.
  • Ability to satisfy safer recruitment and pre-employment checks.
