Job summary

SkyCare Ltd in the United Kingdom is recruiting Mental Health Care Assistants to support individuals with mental health conditions, delivering compassionate personal care and therapeutic engagement.

You will work with a multidisciplinary team, monitor conditions, and report to nursing staff. A DBS check is required or supported; 1–2 years of care experience and dementia exposure desirable; excellent communication and a caring attitude are essential.

Qualifications

  • Experience with dementia, brain injury and nursing home desirable.
  • Holding a DBS check or ability to obtain one is typically desirable.

Responsibilities

  • Provide personal care and support to patients, including assistance with daily living activities such as eating, bathing, and dressing.
  • Engage with patients in therapeutic activities to promote recovery and relieve distress.
  • Monitor and document patients' conditions and report changes to nursing staff.
  • Create a safe, compassionate environment respecting dignity and privacy.
  • Collaborate with nurses, psychiatrists, and social workers to implement care plans.

Job description

This position is crucial in the healthcare system, as Mental Health Care Assistants play a vital role in helping individuals manage their mental health conditions and improve their quality of life.,

  • Patient Care: Provide personal care and support to patients, including assistance with daily living activities such as eating, bathing, and dressing.
  • Therapeutic Engagement: Engage with patients in therapeutic activities to promote recovery and alleviate distress. This includes identifying factors that may increase agitation and employing de-escalation techniques when necessary.
  • Monitoring and Reporting: Observe and document patients' conditions, including any changes in behavior or mood, and report these to the nursing staff.
  • Supportive Environment: Create a safe and compassionate environment for patients, ensuring their dignity and privacy are respected at all times.
  • Collaboration: Work alongside a multidisciplinary team, including nurses, psychiatrists, and social workers, to implement care plans and support patients effectively.
  • Crisis Intervention: Recognize signs of distress or crisis in patients and respond appropriately to ensure their safety and well-being.
    Successful applicants, will have 1-2 years experience preferably in a similar role., Experience: Previous experience in a care role,experience with dementia, brain injury and nursing home is desirable
  • Certifications: Holding a Care Certificate or equivalent is typically desirable.
  • Skills: Strong communication and interpersonal skills are essential, along with the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Cheerful, compassionate, respectful, and caring approach, and have good communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Good understanding of the needs of vulnerable adults and the desire to make a positive contribution to the lives of others.
