Job summary

SkyCare is recruiting Female Care Assistants in Huddersfield to provide compassionate personal care in our dementia and general care setting. Full-time 33-44 hours per week; right to work in the UK and live within commutable distance to the location are required.

Successful applicants will typically have 1-2 years of care experience and a caring, team-focused approach. Salary is £12.82 per hour with a DBS check supported by the company.

Qualifications

• Experience in a care role; dementia, brain injury and nursing home experience desirable.
• Holding a Care Certificate or equivalent is typically desirable.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills are essential.
• Good understanding of the needs of vulnerable adults.
• Ability to work on own initiative.

Responsibilities

• Provide personal care and support to patients, including daily living activities such as eating, bathing, and dressing.
• Engage patients in therapeutic activities to promote recovery and alleviate distress.
• Observe and document patients' conditions and report changes to nursing staff.

The Nursing home offers a range of specialist care for residents, ranging from Alzeimer's and Parkinsons care to care for stroke victims.

Successful applicants, will have 1-2 years experience preferably in a similar role.

This position is crucial in the healthcare system, as Mental Health Care Assistants play a vital role in helping individuals manage their mental health conditions and improve their quality of life.

Key Responsibilities

• Patient Care: Provide personal care and support to patients, including assistance with daily living activities such as eating, bathing, and dressing.
• Therapeutic Engagement: Engage with patients in therapeutic activities to promote recovery and alleviate distress. This includes identifying factors that may increase agitation and employing de-escalation techniques when necessary.
• Monitoring and Reporting: Observe and document patients' conditions, including any changes in behavior or mood, and report these to the nursing staff.
• Supportive Environment: Create a safe and compassionate environment for patients, ensuring their dignity and privacy are respected at all times.
• Collaboration: Work alongside a multidisciplinary team, including nurses, psychiatrists, and social workers, to implement care plans and support patients effectively.
• Crisis Intervention: Recognize signs of distress or crisis in patients and respond appropriately to ensure their safety and well-being.

Required Qualifications
