Job summary

Northumberland County Council is seeking a Family Time Worker to support families across the county. You will observe and record interactions, provide advice, and only intervene to safeguard children.

You will work with highly vulnerable children, maintain professional boundaries, and may need to work evenings or weekends. A DBS check, references and health clearance are required; driving licence and access to a vehicle are also needed.

Qualifications

• NVQ 3 in working with children and families or equivalent experience.
• Experience of direct work with children, their families and carers in a statutory or voluntary agency which provides services to vulnerable children and their families.
• Be flexible to work evenings and occasional weekends as needed to ensure we can provide support to families at suitable times.
• Have access to a vehicle and a driving licence.
• A passion for helping and supporting children and families.

Responsibilities

• Help support families to spend quality time with each other when they can’t live together.
• Allocated a family and observe interactions and parenting, provide advice and intervene to ensure child safety when necessary.
• Work with very vulnerable children while maintaining professional relationships and managing complex family needs.
