Job summary

Northumberland County Council is seeking a Family Time Worker for the Northumberland Family Time Service across the county. You will support families to spend quality time together when they can't live together, allocated to a family for the session, observing interactions and parenting while offering advice and intervening only to keep children safe.

Qualifications

• NVQ 3 in working with children and families or equivalent experience
• Experience of direct work with children, their families and carers in a statutory or voluntary agency which provides services to vulnerable children and their families
• Be flexible to work evenings and occasional weekends as needed to ensure we can provide support to families at suitable times. This will involve working until after 6 pm most evenings.
• Have access to a vehicle and a driving licence
• A passion for helping and supporting children and families.

Responsibilities

• Help support families to spend quality time with each other when they can’t live together
• You will be allocated a family and remain within them for the duration of the session, during which they will observe and record the interactions and parenting, provide advice (if requested) and only intervene to ensure the safety of a child/young person.
• Work with very vulnerable children and so we must ensure we maintain professional relationships whilst managing complex family needs and behaviours
