Position: Family Support Worker

Contract: 3-Month Rolling Contract

Hours: 36.5 hours per week

Pay Rate: 15.84 - 20.22 per hour

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced and motivated Family Support Worker to join our team in Birmingham. In this role, you will provide leadership and high-quality support to children, young people, and families in need. You will play a key role in delivering interventions, managing complex cases, and working collaboratively with multi-agency partners to achieve positive outcomes.

As a Family Support Worker, you will also act as a point of expertise and guidance for colleagues, supporting best practice in Early Help Assessments and intervention planning.

Key Responsibilities

1. Early Help Assessments: Conduct detailed assessments to identify needs and create effective support plans for families.
2. Right Help, Right Time: Apply the framework to deliver timely, targeted interventions that meet the specific needs of families.
3. Intervention Delivery: Work directly with children, young people, and families to deliver practical and tailored support.
4. Complex Case Management: Take responsibility for managing complex and high-need cases, ensuring effective risk assessment and planning.
5. Multi-Agency Collaboration: Work closely with professionals from education, health, social care, and voluntary organisations to provide coordinated support.
6. Team Support: Provide guidance and mentoring to junior team members, supporting their development and ensuring best practice across the service.
7. Safeguarding: Identify and respond to safeguarding concerns in line with local policies and procedures.
8. Monitoring and Evaluation: Maintain accurate records of interventions, outcomes, and progress to ensure continuous improvement and accountability.
9. Contribute to team meetings, case reviews, and multi-agency discussions, providing leadership and expertise as required.

Essential Criteria

1. Demonstrated experience in conducting Early Help Assessments and delivering effective interventions.
2. Strong knowledge of the Right Help, Right Time framework and its practical application.
3. Extensive experience in multi-agency working, with the ability to lead and coordinate joint efforts across services.
4. Proven ability to manage complex cases and assess risk effectively.
5. Excellent communication, mentoring, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with families and professionals.
6. Strong organizational and time-management skills, with the ability to prioritize and meet deadlines.
7. Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and families.
