Job summary

Nexperia Manchester is seeking a Failure Analysis Engineer to investigate MOSFET devices at wafer and package level, using electrical characterization, optical microscopy, X‑ray, LIT, SAM, SEM, EDX and FIB to identify failure mechanisms and support root‑cause understanding.

You will translate complex analytical results into structured, scientifically defensible reports, contribute to 8D and RCA activities, and help develop lab capability while mentoring junior colleagues in a collaborative,

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Materials Science, Physics, Microelectronics or related field
• Curiosity, structured problem‑solving mindset and strong attention to detail
• Confidence working in cross‑functional, multicultural environments
• Experience or strong academic exposure to: Semiconductor devices (Power MOSFETs preferred), Failure analysis, reliability or product engineering, Device physics, semiconductor manufacturing processes and reliability mechanisms
• Strong scientific writing and presentation skills
• Ability to communicate technical concepts clearly and confidently

Responsibilities

• Quality & stakeholder communication – clearly communicate analytical techniques, failure mechanisms and conclusions across teams
• Failure analysis & technical investigation – perform comprehensive analysis on MOSFET devices using electrical, optical, imaging and cross‑sectioning techniques
• Scientific & technical communication – translate findings into clear reports and present results in cross‑functional forums
• Continuous improvement & knowledge sharing – identify quality risks and contribute to preventive actions, mentor junior colleagues
