Job summary

University Hospitals Dorset NHS Foundation Trust is recruiting a Failsafe Officer to ensure high-quality failsafe systems for Antenatal and Newborn Screening (ANNB) programmes. The post holder will support the Screening Co‑Ordinator in developing and delivering the ANNB screening service in line with National Screening Committee requirements.

You will work with multidisciplinary teams to ensure timely screening, manage data entry and records, and implement failsafe checks under supervision.

Qualifications

• GCSE English and Maths at minimum; basic admin skills required.
• NHS experience or familiarity with healthcare settings preferred.
• Experience in data collation and clerical tasks within a multi-disciplinary team.

Responsibilities

• Deal with enquiries for clinical teams by phone, in person or email within agreed limits.
• Ensure timely, friendly and efficient handling of all enquiries and referrals.
• Coordinate with screening midwives and MDT members and liaise with teams as needed.
• Transmit care delivery information electronically or on paper and alert teams of urgent results.
• Flag potential breaches in screening pathways to the Screening Co-ordinator with remedial actions.
• Maintain accurate records in line with the Trust policy.
• Provide admin cover across the managed service during leave or sickness.
