Job summary

Thorlabs is seeking a Facilities engineer to implement and support a site-wide Total Preventive Maintenance (TPM) strategy at our Ely manufacturing site, collaborating across teams to reduce downtime and boost operational performance. Working hours are Monday to Friday, 8:00 am to 4:30 pm.

The role involves planning routine maintenance, managing CMMS work orders, contracts, and hands-on support during downtime.

Qualifications

• Mechanical, Electrical or Manufacturing engineering qualification.
• 2+ years' experience in a manufacturing environment.
• Experience implementing a site-wide TPM strategy.
• Ability to read technical material from machine suppliers to set a TPM strategy.
• Hands-on maintenance skills to support downtime conditions.
• Project management skills.
• Ability to multitask with prioritisation from the team manager.
• Clear communication with Production staff/leadership, maintenance staff and external contractors.
• Influencing skills.

Responsibilities

• Implement a site wide TPM system.
• Schedule work orders for the maintenance team within our CMMS.
• Manage service contracts.
• Host external service engineers and contractors.
• Plan routine preventive maintenance works.
• Project management of facilities and maintenance projects.
• When required, hands-on work to support maintenance engineers.
• Data entry and management within our CMMS system.
• Support with other administrative tasks for facilities and maintenance team.
