Job summary

Civic Recruitment Limited is seeking a Facilities Technical Officer for a 6-month contract with a local authority, based onsite in Redditch. You will manage cyclical services, oversee reactive maintenance, and ensure governance across gas, electrical, fire, water hygiene, asbestos, and lift safety.

Qualifications

• Demonstrable knowledge of IT packages, web-based applications, Microsoft Office, and asset management software.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, numeracy, influencing, and negotiating skills.
• Awareness of the Data Protection Act, confidentiality, and Freedom of Information.

Responsibilities

• Manage cyclical service schedules for plant, equipment, and building maintenance, and provide technical input for planned maintenance programmes.
• Conduct regular inspections of buildings and communal areas, respond to reactive maintenance calls, and coordinate remedial works.
• Oversee contractor performance, allocate follow-up works, raise work orders, and certify invoices.
• Prepare and implement documentation aligned with CDM, COSHH, and statutory regulations, and maintain asset records to support compliance.
• Ensure full compliance across Gas Safety, Electrical Safety, Fire Safety, Water Hygiene (Legionella), Asbestos Management, and Lift Safety (LOLER).
• Produce progress and performance reports, update the condition survey database, and assist in drafting contract documents.
