Job summary

Redborne Upper School and Community College is seeking a committed and hands-on Site Agent to manage safety, security, cleanliness and the overall upkeep of the school site in Bedford. You will work with the Site Manager to ensure facilities are safe, well-maintained and welcoming for pupils, staff and visitors throughout the year.

The role covers site security, routine repairs, health and safety compliance, porterage and coordination with external contractors.

Qualifications

Caretaking, facilities or maintenance experience preferred; basic ICT confidence and practical repair abilities.
Comfortable with physical tasks, including lifting, moving equipment, and working at heights.
Strong understanding of health and safety regulations, basic security systems and fluent spoken English.

Responsibilities

Site security and access control: oversee site security, manage access, and support urgent repairs outside hours.
Maintenance and first-line repairs: inspect site, repair fixtures (doors, windows, lights, furniture) and report hazards.
Health, safety & compliance: perform routine safety checks including fire alarms and emergency exits.
Porterage and setups: move deliveries, arrange furniture, set up classrooms or events.
Operations & contractor management: support minor works, liaise with external contractors and staff on schedules.
