Job summary

UPP is seeking a Facilities Officer for a casual/zero-hours role across a UK campus environment. The position involves site safety, security, and frontline customer service for student residents, with shifts Monday–Sunday and hourly pay depending on demand.

Key duties include patrols, incident reporting, access control, and liaising with residents and partners. Applicants should be adaptable, reliable, and able to work varied shifts, including weekends.

Responsibilities

  • Carrying out regular patrols of the residence and grounds.

  • Managing out-of-hours access and signing-in procedures for visitors and contractors.
  • Responding to fire alarms and liaising with emergency services when required.
  • Logging maintenance requests and passing information to relevant teams.
  • Handling queries and complaints professionally and efficiently.
  • Completing incident, accident, noise and welfare reports.
  • Monitoring student conduct and reporting breaches of rules.

Facilities Officer (Casual / Zero‑Hours)

UPP is the UK's leading provider of on‑campus student accommodation, operating a diverse portfolio of university sites across the UK. We are passionate about providing exceptional places for students to live and learn, where they can feel at home and focus on their studies. We are looking for a Facilities Officer to join our team on a casual basis, helping us provide a safe, secure and welcoming environment for our students, residents and visitors. This is a zero‑hours position with shifts available Monday to Sunday across both days and nights. Shifts are paid hourly and will vary according to the needs of the business.

  • Carrying out regular patrols of the residence and grounds, reporting security, safety or maintenance concerns
  • Monitoring health and safety standards and escalating any issues to the residence management team
  • Managing out‑of‑hours access and ensuring visitors, guests and contractors follow the correct signing‑in procedures
  • Responding effectively to fire alarm activations and liaising with the emergency services when required
  • Logging reactive maintenance requests and passing information to the appropriate teams
  • Responding to queries and complaints in a professional, efficient and courteous manner
  • Completing accurate incident, accident, noise and welfare reports
  • Monitoring student conduct and reporting breaches of the Code of Conduct or licence agreement
  • Liaising with residents, university partners, contractors, colleagues and conference delegates
  • Supporting student welfare by working confidentially with relevant support services in line with company procedures
