Job summary

UPP Ltd is offering a permanent Maintenance Assistant role in Nottingham, working 37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday, 8am–4pm. The salary is £26,739 per annum.

You will perform reactive maintenance, support fire safety checks, and ensure the residence environment meets the required standards. The role requires proven experience in a similar environment and strong communication and organisation skills, with a focus on health and safety.

Responsibilities

  • Carry out reactive maintenance and log details via the Workplace Management System.
  • Keep environment clean and well maintained, monitor plant rooms and common areas.
  • Assist with statutory testing including fire safety checks and emergency lighting.
  • Provide reports on compliance, maintenance tasks and condition checks.
  • Raise health and safety issues to the Manager and take appropriate actions.

Here at UPP we have an exciting opportunity for a Maintenance Assistant to work as part of our Nottingham team in providing both a planned and responsive maintenance service.

This is a permanent position working 37.5 hours per week from 8am until 4pm Monday to Friday.

The salary is £26,739 per annum.

Role responsibilities as a Maintenance Assistant include:
  • Carry out reactive maintenance in accordance with the Service Level Agreement (SLA) and provide front line response when jobs are raised on the Workplace Management System (Planon) utilising a portable electronic device to record job details
  • Ensure that the environment is maintained in accordance with the SLA, including keeping the sites clean and well maintained by monitoring plant rooms and common areas
  • Assist with statutory testing including fire alarm testing, fire extinguishers, fire blankets and fire detector checks, water temperature monitoring, and emergency lighting checks
  • Provide reports (verbal/written and electronic) relating to compliance, maintenance tasks and condition checks
  • Report any Health and Safety issues relating to the residence ensuring all information is passed to the relevant Manager(s) and take appropriate immediate actions to reduce risk

We are looking for you to have worked in a similar role and environment and have great communication and organisation skills, along with the passion to do a great job.

You will have a good understanding of the operational procedures and safe working practices of building services and systems as well as good understanding of health and safety, with the ability to always work in a safe manner.

You will also be prepared to work (with notice) additional hours when needed, especially during the main student arrival and departure weekends.
