Job summary

The Hiring entity, Catering, seeks an experienced Facilities Manager to own the day-to-day facilities across two Oldham sites. You will manage buildings, plant, utilities and contractors to ensure safe, compliant operations within a busy engineering and production environment.

You will report to the Production Director, handle PPM scheduling, SLAs, audits and compliance, and travel between sites as required. This permanent, full‑time role offers a stable pension and regular daytime hours.

Qualifications

• Proven FM experience in engineering/manufacturing environments.
• Knowledge of building systems and UK Health & Safety legislation.
• Experience managing contractors, suppliers and service providers.
• Relevant FM qualification (IWFM/NEBOSH or equivalent).

Job description

Salary: £50,000 | Full-time, Permanent, Days Our client, a well-established engineering business, is looking for an experienced Facilities Manager to take ownership of both locations keeping buildings, plant, utilities and contractors running safely, compliantly and efficiently in support of a busy engineering and production operation.

This is a hands‑on, high‑visibility role reporting directly to the Production Director, ideal for someone who’s as comfortable managing a PPM schedule as they are negotiating a contractor SLA or standing in front of an auditor.

The role is worked on regular days, Monday to Friday.

What you’ll be doing

• Managing the day-to-day running of our offices, workshops and storage areas across both sites
• Overseeing planned preventative maintenance and reactive maintenance for buildings, plant and equipment
• Keeping site utilities power, water, HVAC, compressed air reliable, compliant and cost-effective
• Leading on refurbishments, space planning and site improvement projects
• Carrying out site inspections, audits and risk assessments
• Managing permits, certifications, statutory inspections and compliance documentation
• Acting as the go-to person for facilities-related safety matters and emergency response
• Sourcing, appointing and managing contractors and service providers, including negotiating contracts and SLAs
• Making sure contractor work is delivered safely, on time and to spec
• Monitoring facilities budgets and finding opportunities for savings and efficiency
• Keeping accurate records of assets, maintenance and compliance
• Supporting equipment installs, relocations and decommissioning
• Working closely with engineering, production and IT to keep operations running smoothly

What we’re looking for

• Proven facilities management experience, ideally within engineering or manufacturing
• Solid working knowledge of building systems, maintenance practices and UK Health & Safety legislation
• Experience managing contractors, suppliers and service providers
• A relevant facilities management qualification (e.g. IWFM, NEBOSH or equivalent)
• Strong organisational and problem‑solving skills, with real attention to detail
• Confident communicator who can manage stakeholders at all levels
• Commercially minded and cost-conscious
• Awareness of environmental management and sustainability practices
• Based on‑site with regular travel between Oldham and a second site, within 40 miles, and willing to provide occasional out‑of‑hours support for emergencies or planned works when required
