Job summary

Lodestone Recruitment Ltd is recruiting for a Facilities Manager on behalf of a well-established engineering business. You will own day-to-day facilities across two sites, manage the PPM schedule, contractor SLAs, and compliance to support busy production.

Reporting to the Production Director, you’ll lead refurbishments, space planning, risk assessments and budgeted activities while collaborating with engineering, IT and production to keep operations running smoothly.

Qualifications

• Proven facilities management experience in engineering/manufacturing.
• Solid knowledge of building systems and UK health & safety law.
• Experience managing contractors, suppliers and service providers.
• Relevant facilities management qualification (IWFM/NEBOSH).
• Strong organisational and stakeholder communication.
• Commercially minded with cost awareness.
• Willing to travel between Oldham and a second site within 40 miles.

Responsibilities

• Run day-to-day facilities across two sites including offices, workshops and stores.
• Oversee planned and reactive maintenance for buildings, plant and equipment.
• Maintain site utilities like power, water, HVAC, compressed air safely and cost-effectively.
• Lead refurbishments, space planning and site improvement projects.
• Conduct site inspections, audits and risk assessments.
• Manage permits, certifications and compliance documentation.
• Act as facilities safety lead and handle emergency response.
• Source and supervise contractors, negotiate contracts and SLAs.
• Ensure work is delivered safely, on time and to spec.
• Monitor budgets and seek efficiency savings; maintain asset records.

Salary: GBP50,000 Full-time, Permanent, Days

Our client, a well-established engineering business, is looking for an experienced Facilities Manager to take ownership of both locations keeping buildings, plant, utilities and contractors running safely, compliantly and efficiently in support of a busy engineering and production operation.

This is a hands-on, high-visibility role reporting directly to the Production Director, ideal for someone who's as comfortable managing a PPM schedule as they are negotiating a contractor SLA or standing in front of an auditor.

The role is worked on regular days, Monday to Friday.

What you'll be doing

• Managing the day-to-day running of our offices, workshops and storage areas across both sites
• Overseeing planned preventative maintenance and reactive maintenance for buildings, plant and equipment
• Keeping site utilities power, water, HVAC, compressed air reliable, compliant and cost-effective
• Leading on refurbishments, space planning and site improvement projects
• Carrying out site inspections, audits and risk assessments
• Managing permits, certifications, statutory inspections and compliance documentation
• Acting as the go-to person for facilities-related safety matters and emergency response
• Sourcing, appointing and managing contractors and service providers, including negotiating contracts and SLAs
• Making sure contractor work is delivered safely, on time and to spec
• Monitoring facilities budgets and finding opportunities for savings and efficiency
• Keeping accurate records of assets, maintenance and compliance
• Supporting equipment installs, relocations and decommissioning
• Working closely with engineering, production and IT to keep operations running smoothly

What we're looking for

• Proven facilities management experience, ideally within engineering or manufacturing
• Solid working knowledge of building systems, maintenance practices and UK Health & Safety legislation
• Experience managing contractors, suppliers and service providers
• A relevant facilities management qualification (e.g. IWFM, NEBOSH or equivalent)
• Strong organisational and problem-solving skills, with real attention to detail
• Confident communicator who can manage stakeholders at all levels
• Commercially minded and cost-conscious
• Awareness of environmental management and sustainability practices
• Based on-site with regular travel between Oldham and a second site, within 40 miles, and willing to provide occasional out-of-hours support for emergencies or planned works when required
