Job summary

Carbon 60 is seeking a Facilities Manager for a manufacturing site in Northampton. You will own day‑to‑day maintenance, drive compliance, and build strong client relationships while leading a dedicated site team.

Key responsibilities include budget ownership, KPI tracking, and ensuring health, safety, and environmental standards. This hands‑on leadership role requires technical and commercial acumen and a proactive management style.

Qualifications

• NEBOSH, IOSH, or CSCS (or equivalent).
• Electrical or Mechanical apprenticeship.
• Relevant engineering qualification (degree, HNC, or equivalent) – preferred.
• Legionella (L8) and/or Asbestos Management training – preferred.

Responsibilities

• Leading planning, coordination, and delivery of planned and reactive maintenance with in-house technicians and contractors.
• Owning site operations, budgets, forecasting, and reporting for the client site.
• Managing the contract against KPIs and SLAs, driving compliance improvements.
• Building relationships with client stakeholders and identifying opportunities to expand the scope.
• Overseeing electrical, mechanical, and building services incl. heating, cooling, water systems, and effluent.
• Driving improvements to PM activities and CMMS usage.
• Leading, developing, and motivating the site team.
• Chairs monthly performance review meetings with clients and service providers.
• Ensuring full compliance with health, safety, quality and environmental legislation.
• Participating in the on-call escalation rota.

About the Role

Are you an experienced facilities or engineering professional looking to take ownership of a site and make a real difference? We're looking for a Facilities Manager to lead the delivery of safe, compliant, and reliable facilities services at our clients manufacturing site in Northampton.

This is a hands–on leadership role at the heart of our client's operations – you'll manage day–to–day maintenance, drive compliance, build strong client relationships, and identify opportunities to grow the contract. What You'll Be Doing

• Leading the planning, coordination, and delivery of planned and reactive maintenance, plus minor project work, working with both in–house technicians and specialist contractors
• Owning site operations, budgets, forecasting, and reporting for the client site
• Managing the contract against agreed KPIs and SLAs, championing continuous compliance improvement
• Building strong relationships with client stakeholders and identifying opportunities to grow the scope of work
• Overseeing electrical, mechanical, and building services – including heating, cooling, compressed air, pure water, and effluent systems
• Driving improvements to Planned Preventive Maintenance (PPM) and the Computerised Maintenance Management System (CMMS)
• Leading, developing, and motivating your site team
• Chairing monthly performance review meetings with clients and service providers
• Ensuring full compliance with health, safety, quality, and environmental legislation
• Participating in the on–call escalation rota

Qualifications

Experience

• Familiarity managing engineering or hard services contracts, ideally within FMCG
• Experience managing planned and reactive work order systems across multiple sites
• Experience managing engineering personnel
• Background in food manufacturing or distribution is an advantage
• Confident managing contractors, budgets, and site compliance
• Solid working knowledge of key H&S legislation (PUWER, LOLER, PSSR, etc.)
